I have a confession to make...
I used to be a challenging child. My mother always tells me that my favourite response to any question was always 'NO'. I must have tested her patience thousands of times, I am sure. But luckily for me, parents believe and support their children no matter what. I always aspired to be like my mother who is btw a true master jam maker.
After university, I was supposed to work in our family business but it really didn't appeal to me. I wanted to spread my wings and fly the nest so I took off to England and turned my back on Germany. It was easier than having to work for my own family.
Many years later, I am still here in England and who would have thought that I would start my own jam business making sugarfree and healthy jams.
What I have realised is that we need to honour and respect the wisdom and expertise that older generations have gathered over time. At the same time, it is possible to take that 'old school' knowledge and align it with today's standards.
Nutrition is a huge part of my life as I am intolerant to a number of foods. So I was constantly searching for the best products out there. I am a true believer in 'you are what you eat' however, food also needs to be fun and versatile (in my opinion) so it can nurture your soul as well as your body. No one really wants to eat healthy food that does not taste nice, do they?
This is what drove me to develop our 'free of refined' sugar range. My mother has been a huge part in this as we were swapping recipes and brainstorming ideas to develop these products. She enjoyed it so much that she is now working on her own range in Germany.
As I am writing this, I am forever grateful that I have a pool of wisdom to fall back on. So I am dedicating this blog entry to my mother who has been amazing!
Loads of love
